'Annabel's for the Amazon': A façade with a message about the global climate
Annabel’s has unveiled its much-anticipated annual façade in partnership with The Caring Family Foundation.
Members' Club Annabel’s has unveiled its much-anticipated annual façade in partnership with The Caring Family Foundation (TCFF). Revealed on World Amazon Day, the striking installation marks the sixth year of the ‘Annabel’s for the Amazon’ initiative, which supports reforestation in Brazil and vital community projects in both the UK and South America.
To date, the campaign has raised over £5.2 million, with every penny directed to the Foundation’s causes. This year’s façade, conceived by Tatiana Kharchylava, Creative Director of The Birley Clubs, presents a powerful vision of the Earth with trees rising from it - a poetic reminder of our reliance on nature’s “lungs.” It speaks to the Amazon’s critical role in regulating the global climate, storing up to 200 billion tons of carbon, and the devastating consequences of its deforestation.
For Patricia Caring, Co-Founder of TCFF, the message could not be more urgent.
“Each year, The Caring Family Foundation and Annabel’s unite to amplify one of the most urgent conversations of our time: the climate crisis and its impact on our shared planet. Our Creative Director has always translated our work into art, but this year’s design carries an even sharper message — our survival is inseparable from the survival of the natural world, and no place reflects this more powerfully than the Amazon.”
Having witnessed the destruction first-hand, Patricia stresses the importance of action.
“Nothing prepares you for the devastation stretching for miles. That’s why I believe every one of us must play our part, not only in healing the planet but in standing with the Indigenous communities who risk everything to protect it. As my daughter often reminds me: there is no planet B.”
Since its launch, The Caring Family Foundation has become one of the UK’s largest private donors to Brazilian reforestation, planting more than 3.4 million trees and supporting 39,000 Indigenous people. Earlier this year, it introduced a pioneering medical bus to deliver specialist healthcare across one million hectares of the Amazon, reaching an estimated 38,000 people by the end of 2025.
Tatiana Kharchylava, Creative Director of The Birley Clubs, explains her inspiration for this year’s design:
“The Annabel’s for the Amazon façade brings the rainforest all the way from South America to London, through a glowing globe with trees emerging from its centre. The design symbolises the Amazon’s role as the lungs of the Earth, a visual reminder that the health of our entire planet depends on the survival of its forests.”
You will now see ‘Light into Life’ (Release of Oxygen) 2023, a sculpture by Marc Quinn, each time you pass by Annabel’s. It is based on a Phalaenopsis orchid, dramatically enlarged, challenging the ordinary experience of touring a garden, where humans usually tower over flowers.
A bespoke cocktail menu available at Annabel’s, with proceeds from each sale donated to the Foundation, has been created in collaboration with Cincoro Tequila for the month of September.
From 5th - 22nd September, a dedicated ‘Annabel’s for the Amazon’ Silent Auction is open for all, with proceeds donated directly to The Caring Family Foundation.
