Overview

The Caring Family Foundation believes food is a basic human right – not a privilege.

Since 2019, we have provided over 3.8 million nutritious meals to children and families in the UK and Brazil through our partnerships with local communities, schools, and food banks. Our mission is to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry by delivering consistent, nourishing support where it’s needed most.

Through our partnership with The Felix Project, we help redirect high-quality surplus food to communities across London, supporting the 700,000 children facing food insecurity.

Our funding strengthens the infrastructure needed to deliver food where it is most needed. In early 2025, we supported the distribution of one million meals for World Hunger Day – reaching nearly 130,000 people and preventing over 5,000 tonnes of food waste. We also funded two co-branded vans, which rescued over 215 tonnes of food in their first four months.

We focus our support where need is greatest. In Tower Hamlets, where child poverty is highest in London, we fund year-round food provision to 16 schools and community hubs, helping to ensure consistent access to nutritious food for families.

Our partnership with Surrey Square Primary School supports the Old Kent Road Family Zone, a community hub where food provision plays a central role in supporting family wellbeing. Our funding enables the delivery of nutritious food through weekly youth clubs and “Caring Meals” for families, while the school’s Monthly Marketplace creates a space for community connection and local engagement.

This work helps ease pressure on families experiencing food insecurity, while supporting children to better engage in school and learning.

Our partnership with Home-Start Camden & Islington supports families facing complex challenges, including temporary housing, domestic abuse, and social isolation. We also respond to the challenge of holiday hunger, when access to school meals is lost. By supporting food provision during school holidays, we help ensure families have a reliable source of nutrition year-round.

Through our funding, families receive access to nutritious food alongside practical support, including workshops on fuel poverty and budget-friendly cooking, helping parents provide healthy meals in difficult circumstances.

Our partnership with Instituto Lia Esperança supports children and families in São Paulo with consistent access to nutritious food, in a community where many face daily challenges in securing enough to eat. Through our funding, free meals are provided to school-aged children and their families, helping children arrive at school nourished and ready to learn.

We also support the development of sustainable, community-led solutions, including improvements to the community kitchen and the maintenance of a vegetable garden, strengthening access to fresh food and building long-term resilience.
