Empowering Women Globally: Celebrating Women’s History Month
In celebration of Women's History Month and International Women's Day, The Caring Family Foundation proudly reaffirms its dedication to building a world in which every woman can thrive.
We are proud to align with the International Women’s Day 2025 theme of #AccelerateAction. This year, we’re showcasing how decisive action can drive change for women across three critical areas: breaking cycles of domestic abuse, addressing food insecurity in the UK and Brazil, and empowering Indigenous communities to protect the Amazon rainforest and thrive.
The #AccelerateAction theme emphasises the urgency of making faster, more effective strides toward gender equality. Progress has been too slow in areas such as economic participation, political representation, and combating gender-based violence.
At The Caring Family Foundation, we equip those on the ground with grants and vital resources that enable transformative change— helping women rebuild their lives, uplift their communities, and pave the way toward a sustainable future.
The Caring Family Foundation continues to support specialist domestic abuse services through grants, supporting crucial front-line services to deliver lifesaving work to survivors going through crisis. The domestic abuse services we support offer a variety of different services to survivors across the country, from specialist helplines, refuges, and support for survivors living in the community, to innovative group work empowering survivors and supporting them to regain their confidence and independence.
THE ANGELOU CENTRE
In November 2024, The Caring Family Foundation provided a grant to The Angelou Centre in Newcastle, as part of a wider grants round to nine domestic abuse organisations across the UK. This funding created four spaces in a refuge (safe house), highlighting the Foundation's commitment to reducing barriers to support and ensuring survivors have a safe place to turn to when fleeing abuse.
In February, Co-Founder Patricia Caring and The Caring Family Foundation team visited The Angelou Centre to meet with survivors and staff, to hear their experiences and learn what we can do to further support their amazing work.
THE WORK WE'VE DONE SO FAR
At The Caring Family Foundation, we have awarded more than £250,000 in grants to nine vital domestic abuse organisations, including specialist By-and-For services that support marginalised communities. We have also provided vital funding to the National Domestic Abuse Helpline, which remains a lifeline for women across the UK. By backing these organisations, especially By-and-For services, we’re dedicated to breaking down barriers to support, ensuring that every survivor has a safe, trusted place to turn when they need it most.
